Copic Certification

OK, this came out of the blue and rather unexpected but very exciting...March 1, Debbie and I will be traveling to Topsfield, MA to become Copic Certified! How about that!! We brought Copic Markers into the store this summer and they have had a rather slow start but that could be because I don't totally understand them. Can't sell well what you don't know!! That won't be the question after March 1st, will it?!? Way cool...
I am currently working on a Valentine's Brag Book for our upcoming January February classes along with a Valentines Card Class. Be looking on my blog for further info or check out the Generations of Memories calendar at http://www.generationsofmemories.com/calendar.htm
till then......Craft On!!

Fun, Fun, Fun

What a day Saturday was!!! I decided to go to the grand opening of a LSS. I love checking out the competition. So while on the way I decided to go a different way and came across an amazing Antique Shop. So of course I had to stop!! And what a find it was. Oh boy, the barn was freezing, it wasn't heated. I got to the back of the barn, my hands nearly frozen and came across this box of hand made lace...OMG...OMG...OMG!!! B E A U T I F U L stuff. So I took the box into the heated room to go through it. The store keeper came over to see what I had. We went through the box together, looking at the rolled lace, crochet instructions and thread. She didn't want to break the box up....and the price was $40...a little more that I truly wanted to spend, but still a steal. So I set the box aside, and looked through her box of vintage post cards....another find. Oh they were beautiful, great condition and once again...a steal. Well, needless to say I got the whole kit and kaboodal for $40....YEAH!!

Isn't the lace beautiful!!! I can't wait to create with it. In the box there was two spools of Gimp, something I've never come across before. I just had to work with it and I came up with this doily, my own design....kinda cool.

So, after that unplanned stop, off to the LSS I went. I sure am glad I went, it's always good to see what other stores are carrying, what they do for Make and Takes and what their stores look like. I spent a long time just looking around cause there was lots to look at. Now I know how people feel when they come into Generations of Memories. So after a long and thorough search I came up with a few finds.

Every time I go to a LSS, I try to find something our store doesn't carry, something unique to add to my collect. This day I choose this stamp. I've already used it...way cool. I will have to post picts at another time.

Now to my Make it Monday....I had said I wanted to work with Metal and I did!!! I went through my stash and came across a few sheets of metal, I believe it came from Making Memories. I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Floral Fantasy, I think that's the name, embossing folder. By gollie it worked. (I found that larger pieces had a tendency to curl.) I then took an embossed piece of metal and cut it into 1" squares.

I then applied Alcohol Inks to the embossed metal.

This pict really doesn't show the inchies true colors. I then painted the background with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Gesso.

I then used Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi Medium to adhere the inches to the background.

And now for the completed project....not bad for the first time out of the shoot!! I can't wait to learn more about "Metal"!

Three Days Off....

So I'm already planning how to fill my 3 days off!!! My ABC album has been calling to me daily...already have a few ideas for page "A for Attitude!" I stamped the word Wednesday but haven't had the opportunity to get to it. Last night was our Arts Gallery Meeting....some fun things coming up there! While watching the weekend football games will probably be a great time for this project....entering hubby's world while still in mine!!!

I think after I take my daughter to get her hair cut, I'm going to head down to Stamping Memories in Belmont. They are having a Grand Re-Opening this weekend. Sounds like fun...always good to go to other store events!!! Check out what they are doing.

I'm also excited about advancing my Metal Working Skills! Got a few irons in the fire with that one...be checking out my blog for more details!

So for today....smile....laugh....create!!

Paper, Paper...who has the most PAPER?

As I was saying earlier, when I was creating on Monday I got distracted by the fact that I couldn't find something hence reorganizing my craft area. In that process I came across scads of little pieces of paper...not to small, just big enough that they could be used for something!!! Has this ever occurred to you!

Anyways, there are tons of things you can do with those little pieces of paper...and here are a few cards that I created for a class at Generations of Memories. All of the pieces of paper are relatively small...so pull out your stash of pieces and create a Thank you card to send to someone just cause....they deserve to be thanked!

MAKE-IT MONDAY....

Well the kids are back to reality....School! There was a bit of grumbling and complaining something about that we live in a free country and shouldn't have to go to school. They forget that, yes, we live in a free country that is filled with LAWS! Anyways that hubbub is over, hubby's at work and here I am......
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!....Being home every Monday...this being my first, I've decided to create Make-It Monday. Every Monday I will create something and post it on my blog. Recently, while in blogland I came across a blog where a woman was creating an ABC altered book. I'm going to do a spin off of that.
Firstly, I received a Zutter Bind It All for Christmas and I've been itching to use it. I also bought a 6 x 6 Cover All from Generations of Memories and today I am going to "Alter" it to begin my ABC journal. I think my spin will be that every letter will have a word attached to it. The pages will contain journaling, photos and other ephemera. I am truly looking forward to this project and I hope you will to!!
I'll be back with picts.................

OK here it is...sorry for the delay in the photos. I couldn't find something I was looking for and I ended up rearranging my craft area. It is much better now but it took a few hours....oops!

Ok so after I took this and got going on the project I changed the Cover All I wanted to use, it's now a 7.5x5 Flat Spine.

So I got a little ahead of myself and started cutting pages...need to focus and cut the pages to the right side...note to me! So after I conquered the Zutter...I turned my focus to the cover.

I chose paper for the cover, one of my faves, Cosmo Cricket. I cut the paper 10x7.5 and using the scoring blade in my trimmer, measuring 1" from top, bottom and right side, I made scoring lines. I then cut the corners out.

Now for one of my favorite products, Claudine Hellumth Studio, multi-medium, matte. This stuff is the BEST! I brushed it on with one of her brushes all over the cover.

I repeated the process for the back cover. Then I cut a third piece for the binding. Now to designing the cover. I found a little of this and a little of that. Chipboard, lace, a page from a book, some very cool paper, paint, and Ink, Ink, Ink!!!

Once I had a basic idea of what it was going to look like. The fun began!!!!

So after a little more of this and a little more of that....voila....the finished cover!
