Happy New Year!!

So what are you doing for New Years....me I am hoping to get some more pages done. I don't stay up and watch the ball fall any more. My kids probably will but then again they will sleep the whole day away tomorrow.
I've actually done a few pages recently...and then gave them away to my sister. I was really upset...a page I had worked on forever...and given to my sister...which I had made a point to photograph while at her house....when I pulled it up yesterday to work on it...the flash had caused a huge white spot on the photo and it was unrepairable. Bummer!!!

The minute this paper arrived at my LSS I couldn't wait to create with it. The paper is the Love Letters line from Little Yellow Bicycle. I used Hambly rubons on the black brads and under Love, Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint on the chipboard "Love" letters and inked the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. I used a Corner Adorner punch on the photo mat. To top off the whole page a beautiful self portrait of my daughter...Lysie who is in one word "Love"!

This page I created yesterday after yet another Doctors appt. I had collected these items, Prima flowers and leaves, Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky Back Canvas, the pictures are printed on it, My Minds Eye, Bohemia paper and some misc fun paper and vintage lace and of course Distress Ink! Oops I forgot the CI die cut paper and the Basic Grey chipboard. I think that's it...This page just flowed...a great thought diverter.

I will tell you later about an amazing book my sister gave me for Christmas. Until then have a Safe and Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Well, it's been quite a year!! Christmas Day is here, a time for family, food, traditions...not all about the gifts. Yes, what an awesome time listening to by kids squeal at their gifts but today is a day to remember the important things in life. To remember Christmases past, of those who are no longer with us, and to create our own memory of this Holiday time. So hug the necks of those you love, and remember they are the greatest gift!!
Had time to create some scrapbook pages today. You see my sister doesn't scrapbook or hardly get the pictures off of her camera. So last year, I gave her a scrapbook and I decided to make it her yearly gift...to scrapbook pictures of the past year events. I didn't get the task completely finished...in fact at some point in time I need to do a few pages for myself!!

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED DAY....................

Tim's Tags

So.........the 12 Tags of Christmas are over....Tim is sooooooooooo amazing and just busting with creativity!!! and a good salesman!!

So here is my take off 3 of Tim's tags..........

I lifted the lamp idea from Tag #1, the blue background from Tag #2 with a twist, I used Distress Inks and the "spritz and flick" technique which by the way he used on Tag #7, the day after I did this as a Make and Take at my store. So maybe I am just...well not just, as creative as Tim!

Beeswax Ornaments

So I love to collect things...and one of them being Vintage Post Cards....they are beautiful and it's also a lot of fun to read them. Well I stole an idea from Suze W.....the use of large laminate samples. I got mine from a local building supply store. I went to Lowes and asked the Kitchen Designer if she had any samples that were outdated....she was generous. A big thank you!!! So I proceeded to have fun and this is what I came up with.....
I had sent my husband out to get copies made of the postcards for me, you don't want to use the original as it will be gone forever....he had them made on a heavier stock than I was used to..... but it was a great idea as I was able to cut out the individual images and bend them before dipping them into the Beeswax for a way cool 3-d effect. Sorry no pict of them yet! I am teaching this in a class next week, should be tons of fun!!

Turkey Day...

Well, tomorrow is the big day...a day of thanksgiving...not just turkey, stuffing, cranberry relish and desserts but of family and a time to pause and think on the things we are thankful for. It is easy to think of things we want or don't have but what are we truly thankful for...I know I am thankful for a husband who has stood beside me for these last two years during my dark journey of daily headaches, with my ups and very low downs, all the visits to the ER's, and my terrible temper cause my head JUST hurts, and has loved me even when I'm not really worthy of loving. Two amazing children, Melysa and Douglas, who are the loves of my life and have kept me going when I just didn't want to anymore. For a mother who diligently prays for me and my family and boy have we needed them. And my AMAZING sister, Angela, who has been my ear to listen day after day to my stories and complaints. This has been my circle of life, this is now my circle of THANKFULNESS!! Life is short and illness really sucks but make the most of the good moments, ride out the bad as best as you can.....smile often, laugh much.........and create, create, create.....it's a great thought diverter!

It's a sanity thing!

Tuesday night as I was driving home thinking of what Wednesday had instore for me, I was so overcome with the absolute need to create...not for my show, not for the store, not for my classes but for me. Something with lace, vintage postcards, metal, buttons...all those things that just make me feel good!! So that's what I did. I did my wifely/motherly chores when I got home - made dinner, folded some clothes, refereed...then I set about to create...boy did it feel good! A couple hours later I felt about 100 lbs lighter, the stress had lifted and now I could continue with my mass producreating (my new word) and it was OK! (After rereading my posted blog I realized I didn't really say anything about how I came about completing this beauty!) I began by painting brush strokes with Claudine Hellmuth Studio traditional tan & landscape green semi gloss acrylic paint. I also used her multi medium matte to adhere the torn pages as the background (the stuff works wonders!!!) was running out at the end and had use someone else's stuff and my beautiful girl started rippling - I was scared!!!
I inked the edges with Archival Ink flavor Coffee. The metal strip is by Making Memories, which I painted then sanded and adhered buttons to it with Tombo Metal Liquid Glue. The flower was cut out of material, smeared with Sepia Glossy Accents and a little Patina Stickles (my new favorite color) and embellished with fibers. Smeared (I was in a smearing mood) a little Beeswax around the edges, dusted it with some Perfect Pearls and there she...is a thing of Beauty..."Lynne's Sanity".
I love the saying I found on one of my vintage postcards "Resolve to do the best you can today, much or little, whatever you do be cheerful, That will help a lot!" if fit perfect with the whole purpose of the piece. Great words to live by!!!

Wednesday came and 2 out of 4 of the things that were supposed to happen did, Doug and Walt, we had to reschedule Lysie and the car...one needs more sedation the other - wrong parts, both easy enough to fix.

Picked up my postcards and posters for my show next month, "A Little Ink Will Do Ya" and had to ink them up...of course. Now to mail them out....getting down to the wire....eeeeek!

I have returned!!!

I warned everyone...after a week of mayhem I have returned momentarily. I spent another Saturday at Scrappin Soul Sisters for my first class...yippee!!! Thank you Karen, Nancy and Brenda for attending...sorry for the one cancellation. We had a great time of exploring embossing powders. A great time was had by all. I look forward to them next month for our Paint class and the other attendees that will be there!!!

I will be at the Beacon Friday night for a Demo and give away to further promote my classes. I look forward to that!!!

The count down is on for my gallery exhibit! It will be up November 2 with the Reception on the 7th. Then a breather till the 20th when I will be in Concord at Devine for a Craft Show.

Tomorrow is a family appointment day. Lysie has an appointment with an Oral Surgeon to have 4 teeth pulled, Doug meets with the Podiatrist to get his orthodics, I have an appointment to get the catalytic converter fixed on my car and Walt has an appointment to see his Doctor. I'm tired just typing that!!!

I will be in touch later to let you know how that all went!

On the Road...

I headed out of the North Country and headed Southward to my Native turf to have a Demo day at Scrappin' Soul Sisters in Concord, my old stompin' grounds. Boy did it seem strange to be back in those parts. Anyways, had a great time promoting my Technique Tag Classes which will be beginning there October 15. I am very excited to be teaching a new group of ladies!! and it was great to meet a few of them Saturday! We had a great time playing with Distress Inks, Mini Misters, Grungeboard, Alcohol Inks and the non archival shurtape!! I look forward to having them in my upcoming classes.

FYI: I will also be at the Beacon in Lincoln with Scrappin Soul Sisters on Friday Night, October 24th to Demo: Ink, Ink, and More Ink. There will be a "Most Amazing Drawing" of an Inkssentials Craft Mat, Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool and Distress Ink Pad, how cool is that.

Check out my blog in the next day or so to see the card I made at the Demo...it is going to be part of my next class here at Generations of Memories....Ink, Ink, and More Ink...to be held at the end of October.

The beauty of fall!

I was driving to work this morning in total awe of the beauty of the landscape! The hills are truly ablaze with color. It seemed to happen in just the past week, the colors seem have just popped!!! Words or film can hardly capture the beauty. I am so glad we didn't get the rain or wind the weather folk predicted so the leaves can hang on to be admired a bit longer.......a TRUE THING OF BEAUTY!!!

Here they are...

As I promised here are some picts of the pieces I have been madly working on this last week!!! And what fun I've been having to say the least. I even took a day off of work to create, how bout that! The possibilities with Grungeboard are endless. It is just so pliable, moldable and just down right fun I must say. Stamp it, Ink it, dust it with Perfect Pearls, mist it with water, set it with heat, shape it, and there you have it, A TRUE THING OF BEAUTY!

The wood is colored with Distress ink and Archival ink then stamped.

So, I am praying tomorrow the showers end up being more SCATTERED than not. I am prepared, I have cut watercolor paper to make backgrounds for my maple leaf card, and I have cut and embossed plenty of leaves so I can make up a bunch of cards. That should keep me busy. Our booth is tented with sides so we can stay dry.
(FYI: You're Special is a picture frame, Friends has a mirror in the center)

Fall is here!!!

Fall is in the air...the leaves on the trees are changing color, it will be in the twenties tonight...burr...the local farms are cutting down the corn...mums are for sale everywhere. I have a love hate relationship with this time of year! It's my favorite....I just know what's coming!!! So yesterday, I served my required volunteer duty at the Gallery and got to create all day long! I hauled in all of my bags of stuff because I no idea what I would want to work on.Typically its very quiet with little to no distractions, so I just put on the tunes and create away... pure heaven!!!

So, I decided I would first catalog all of my Reinker filled Mini Misters on water color paper. After that, I decided to use my Provo Craft Cut & Emboss Maple Leaf I had recently acquired. Next, I pulled out my Shure Tape and Alcohol Inks, a little Stickles, some Reinker filled Mini Misters, a few of my Embossing Folders, my IBT and Distress Inks, the recently discontinued Mulberry Paper and Voila....a thing of beauty. Now all I have to do is reproduce this and 12 other designs a few more times and distribute them to local stores, the gallery and oh yea save a few for the art festival and I'll be good to go!!! The original design process always takes the longest....I just need to remember to be a little more methodical in the documentation of the designing!

The smell of rubber and exhaust.........

Ok so I love NASCAR!!! And my husband and I were totally blessed with 4 tickets to the race at NH Motor Speedway for the Sylvania 300....it was awesome!!!! The smell of burning rubber. I love it!! And the rumble in my chest as 43 cars go racing by....words just can't describe it!!! It was quite iffy as to whether or not it would go green but the rain passed, they brought out the blowers, dried off the track and it was a great day for a race!!! Had a couple of wrecks...always good to see! Kyle wahwah Busch did horrible YEAH!! So it was a great day!!! even though Jeff Gordon did not do so hot. (he finished 14th) Took all day yesterday to recoup now I can function again! And I'm ready to go.

WOW

OK so I was doing my morning blog hopping and you have to check this out... http://studio490art.blogspot.com/ it's about me!

This was sooooooo fun...

OK so I've been trying to come up with all this new stuff and of course I can't get away from grunge board and Wendy's stamps so I put a twist on things and rubbed a little Glossy Accents on the flowers. I pulled out some Maya Road Sheer Collection Blossoms ran them through my Cuttlebug...it's all about the texture!...used a little Alcohol Ink to make the flowers look like leaves and rubbed a little Glossy Accents on them and there you have it....not to shabby...ya think!!!

Rain Rain go away...

So I woke up this morning to hear the rumble of thunder and the sound of rain and I sooooo wanted to just roll over and pull the covers over my head and go back to sleep but LIFE was calling....lunches to be made....kids out the door for school...did I find out where every one would be after school and who need picked up where? ! ? ... my creating bags packed for work...gotta get this falls class schedule going...then there's me to get ready and out the door on time...which never seems to happen. . . which I was late again...and of course that would lead to getting behind some dear old lady puttering along at 5-10 miles below the speed limit and when the only passing lane comes along came the cars in the other direction!!! maybe I should have pulled the covers over my head!!!. . . boy oh boy the rambling. . . I think I do need to go create and get this excess whatever outta me!!!!!

Too Much Fun....

OK. . . so I have an Art Show September 27 and I am the featured artist at the Lisbon Art Gallery in November. . . needless to say I have been working madly to create pieces as I have a very limited collection (did I say collection...not) so I have had a blast using different techniques to create pieces and this is one I created last night. Anyone who knows me knows I love my Ranger supplies and boy did I use them in this piece!!! The paper was created using Reinkers and Mini Misters. Next I used my MOST FAVORITE STAMPS IN THE WORLD....Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi / Stampers Anonymous....Every one should own these stamps!!! They are the best!!! and Tim Holtz -Festive Sounds. I applied a layer of beeswax to the paper and with Suze's Hot Wax Art Stylus Tool and Creative Imaginations Foil I randomly rubbed the Stylus over the surfaces. (that's the orange looking stuff, much better looking in person) I must say. . .I suprised myself, I do that occasionally!
The sun is shining...it's a beautiful day....enjoy life!!!

The beginning

The beginning of something for me is always the easy thing....it's keeping it going for the long hall that is the difficult part. But here goes nothing!!! I choose today to be faithful to keep this blog going and to try and be faithful...let see how it works!!
